In 2008 the Elders of Summit Church (Alta, IA) sensed God’s leading to plant a new church. By October 2009, God had similarly stirred the hearts of two groups in Holstein. After these groups discussed beliefs and goals, affiliation with the Evangelical Free Church of America (EFCA) was pursued. In January 2010 Summit pastors met bi-monthly with this group. The “Launch Team” gathered publicly in April-August 2010 at the Community Center to discuss the EFCA Statement of Faith. Two preview services were held in the fall of 2010.
After a year of planning and praying CrossRidge launched weekly Sunday morning worship services on January 9, 2011. Summit's Kevin Mahr served as Campus Pastor & Doug Corlew served as the Teaching Pastor via recorded sermons with monthly live preaching. God also blessed CrossRidge with prayer & financial support from surrounding E-Free churches. In April 2011 the “Rocket Team” (because the church had been “launched” and “taken flight”) invited Tyler Parson to candidate for pastor. After a unanimous vote of regular attenders Tyler Parson accepted the call to serve as CrossRidge’s Senior Pastor on May 15, 2011. We adopted our Constitution & Bylaws on May 6, 2012, appointed temporary elders to admit members under these bylaws, and purchased our church office facility at 117 S. Main, Holstein in the summer of 2012. CrossRidge received our first members and elected our first term elders at our Congregational Meeting in January of 2013. On March 5, 2013 CrossRidge Church was unanimously received by the Central District Conference of the Evangelical Free Church of America as a full charter member church. We continue to reach out with the Word of God and love of Christ to impact those in our sphere of influence and seek the Lord for future ministry expansion!
